Outrigger Hotels and Resorts announces soft launch of Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger
With its 70th Anniversary in full stride, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts announces the newest addition to its brand portfolio with a soft opening of Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger Feb. 1, 2018. A traditional Hawaiian blessing will mark the transition of the former Holiday Inn resort to the Outrigger-branded property.
An extensive $25 million hotel renovation will follow – including all-new guest rooms and meeting spaces, revamped lobby and much more – presenting guests with a modern, urban oasis in the heart of Waikiki. Projected for completion in late summer 2018, the phased renovation schedule is designed specifically to minimize guest disruption.
Situated steps from Waikiki Beach and adjacent to the reimagined International Market Place, Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger is home to some of Hawaii’s dining hotspots including Maui Brewing Co. and Hawaiian Aroma Caffe, where visitors and locals alike enjoy poolside service in a family-friendly environment. Serving brews from morning to night, guests can savour artesian coffee and light bites in a chic poolside café or sample a flight of award-winning, Maui-brewed craft beer with fresh, island-inspired eats.
“Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger is an excellent value for guests looking to experience Outrigger’s iconic Hawaiian hospitality and take advantage of the resort’s modern accommodations and easygoing beach vibe,” said Alan Naito, general manager of Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger. “The new guest room design is spectacular; with renovations starting at the top floors first – we look forward to soon having this fresh inventory to share with our guests.”
Located in the heart of Waikiki, the hotel’s prime positioning on Kalakaua Avenue provides travellers the luxury of city offerings paired with the nearby white-sand beaches. The Beachcomber was originally built in 1970 and is remembered for its showroom where legendary Hawaii entertainers performed frequently – including the late Don Ho, who often sang his quintessential, universally loved tune “Tiny Bubbles.” While preserving the property’s history in Waikiki, Outrigger’s latest renovation will elevate the Waikiki Beachcomber from an upper-midscale to an upscale-tier-property.
The impressive enhancements to the Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger will include incorporating contemporary Hawaiian-inspired design and a complete revamp to the guest rooms, pool deck and public spaces, including the lobby, corridors, elevator and hotel exterior. Staying true to Outrigger’s tropical and calming aesthetic found throughout its resorts, the Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger provides a well-appointed urban oasis and sense of place from arrival to turndown, with an Instagram-worthy entryway inspired by the surrounding natural environment and guest rooms featuring deep-teal and marigold hues plus the latest in-room technology.
