COVID-19 drive-through testing opens at Blaisdell today Sept. 13

The City and County of Honolulu, in partnership with Nomi Health, are proud to launch a new COVID-19 drive-through testing site conveniently located at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena beginning today, Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants will be able to choose the Binax Now rapid antigen test, with their result available in one hour or a PCR nasal swab with the test result available within 24-48 hours. Both testing options satisfy the requirements of the Safe Access O‘ahu program, which also begins Monday, Sept. 13.

Patients are required to register online and will be able to book appointments, which are available every five minutes. They will receive a QR code which they should bring with them to their appointment, along with a valid ID. Insurance cards are welcome, but not required. Pre-registration is required as walk-ins will not be permitted.

“We recognize testing is a key component for our community and we are happy to be able to offer this new location for people,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “We appreciate the help and support from Nomi Health to make this site happen, especially so quickly. We want people to be able to get a test if needed, but I strongly urge people to get vaccinated instead of continually opting to take a test just to go to work or patronize businesses.”

“Nomi Health delivers almost 4 percent of COVID-19 testing across the nation on any given day,” said Mark Newman, co-founder and CEO, Nomi Health. “We’ve been honored to support BYU-Hawaii and the Laie community with open and available COVID-19 testing for almost a year and will stop at nothing to expand testing to all residents of Oahu during this uncertain time.”

As the official COVID-19 testing partner for BYU-Hawaii, Nomi Health, the direct healthcare company coordinating COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts across the country, has completed 39,000 PCR tests for BYU-H and the Laie community. The company currently offers COVID-19 testing in the BYU-H parking lot six days a week.

The testing drive through site will be available at the Blaisdell Arena in the parking area. The driveway entrance is located on Kapiolani Boulevard ONLY at the rear of the Arena, not the parking lot kiosks at King Street or Kapiolani Boulevard (see map).  Participants will drive under a tent, have their swab sample collected, and drive off at the Ward Avenue exit. The results will be texted to cell phone provided upon registration.  Patients who chose the Binax Now rapid antigen option may wait for their results and speak to a clinician if they have any questions.
