Douglas remains a hurricane impacting Hawaii

HurricaneDouglas is 90 miles E of Kahului, and 185 miles E of Honolulu. Douglas is still a category 1 storm with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph. Hurricane Douglas continues to close in on the main Hawaiian Islands this Sunday morning, carrying with it some dangerous and potentially damaging weather.

The current track of Hurricane Douglas takes it north of the Big Island later this morning, then glance the following islands, Maui Sunday at midday, Molokai in the afternoon, Oahu in the evening, lastly Kauai late tonight and Monday morning. Once Douglas leaves the area, safely by Monday night, high pressure to our north will bring back a typical trade wind weather pattern.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Oahu. Expect winds with gusts up to 65kt and seas up to 13 feet. It applies for Oahu Leeward Waters, Maui County, Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, and Alenuihaha Channel
