New COVID Testing Sites in Wahiawa and Waipahu

The City and County of Honolulu, in coordination with Embry Health, is announcing the opening of a new COVID-19 testing site offering free PCR tests at Bill Balfour Jr. Waipahū District Park and Wahiawā District Park. Additional sites operated by Embry Health are anticipated to open soon.

Patients can find available locations and appointment times here. The website will show people available locations near them. All that is required is to click on a location, select an appointment time, and fill out all required information. Patients will receive a confirmation code that should be brought with them to the site, along with a valid photo ID. Booking an appointment ahead of time is recommended to save time at the site, but it is not required as walk-ins are welcome at the Embry Health sites. Health insurance is not required, however those with insurance may be asked for their provider information. The PCR test results will be available within 24-48 hours. If people have questions they may call or text the main call center at 480-376-2170.

“As we continue learning to live with COVID-19, the need to keep track of the virus and its impact on our communities is paramount,” said Deputy Director Kēhaulani Pu‘u, Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation. “Weʻre very pleased to be able to host this latest round of testing at our park facilities, particularly in neighborhoods experiencing more significant impacts from the virus. City parks have served a diverse role in this pandemic, not just as areas of respite and recreation, but as common spaces where needed services can be rendered. Mahalo to Embry Health and our City administration for the opportunity to continue serving our communities in this expanded capacity.”

“Embry Health is dedicated to helping stop the spread of COVID-19 and providing accessible, easy and high quality care,” said Aleksandra Tercjak, director of business development, Embry Health. “We are trying to focus on the underserved communities that don’t have access to typical testing sites due to transportation issues or cost. We are providing free testing for anyone and everyone who wants to be tested. Having the help of the City and making these important connections to really dive into these communities and help the local people has been an amazing opportunity and experience as we continue to grow and expand into other public sites throughout the island.”

In addition, Embry Health is currently operating a testing site at Kahala Mall. Additional sites are anticipated, and when open, will be found on the Embry Health website. Each location may have different operating schedules.

The tests are being provided at no cost to the City or patient and can be used to fulfill the Safe Access O‘ahu testing requirements. We are thankful to Embry Health for coordinating the testing and paying the associated expenses.
