New Year’s Day holiday schedule
City and County of Honolulu offices will be closed on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2021.
The holiday schedule for the City and County of Honolulu operations is as follows:
- Emergency medical services, fire, lifeguard, medical examiner, and police services will be available.
- TheBus will operate on a Sunday schedule. For route and schedule information, visit www.thebus.org.
- Refuse will NOT be collected and transfer stations, convenience centers, H-POWER, and the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill will be closed. If your household refuse collection falls on New Year’s Day, visit opala.org for additional information.
- The Ala Wai, Ted Makalena and Ewa Villages golf courses will be open from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. for 18-hole play and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for 9-hole play. The Kahuku, Pali and West Loch golf courses will be closed. Visit honolulu.gov/des/golf for revised information.
- The Honolulu Zoo will be open.
- The Honolulu Botanical Gardens will be closed.
- Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve will be closed.
- The Neal S. Blaisdell Center box office will be closed.
- The People’s Open Markets will not be held.
- All satellite city halls and driver licensing centers will be closed.
The following traffic and parking regulations will be in effect:
- Motorists are cautioned that parking will be restricted in Lanikai over the three-day holiday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- On-street parking will be free, except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Queen Kapiolani Park, metered parking lots, and meters on specific Waikiki streets. View the list of Waikiki streets here.
