What to expect at Honolulu Zoo tomorrow?

The Honolulu Zoo is a 42-acre zoo in Queen Kapiʻolani Park in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, US. It is the only zoo in the United States to be established by grants made by a sovereign monarch and is built on part of the 300-acre royal Queen Kapiʻolani Park.

To protect animals from visitors and visitors from each other, the Zoo closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Starting tomorrow June 5, families can enjoy exotic animals again and take their kids to the zoo. Not everything will be open. Kids’ playgrounds will remain closed, but a large grass area is open for “non-masks” relaxation and for children to enjoy.

Kama’aina rates are only $8. According to a spokesperson, visitors will not be asked if they are supposed to be under quarantine when entering the zoo.

Upcoming opening times are set from Wednesday – Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Zoo grounds will close at 3:30 p.m.

The following rules are set in place:

  • Guests are asked to travel with their troop to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
  • Wear a face covering (exceptions made for those with prohibitive health conditions and children under 5, while eating near any concession stand or taking a break in specified lawn areas and physically distanced from others).
  • Follow all posted signage and directional arrows through exhibits to ensure proper flow and social distancing measures.
  • Adhere to limits allowed in enclosed exhibits (i.e., penguins, hippopotamus, African wild dogs, etc.).
  • Entry will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Guests will be asked to exit the Zoo by 3:30 p.m.
