BIA-Hawaii Cancels Summer Home Building & Remodeling Show

The Building Industry Association of Hawaii (BIA-Hawaii) announced today the cancellation of the BIG Summer Home Building & Remodeling Show in August. The BIG Summer Home Building & Remodeling Show is one of the most prominent industry trade shows in the State of Hawaii, second in size only to BIA-Hawaii’s BIG Show in January.

BIA-Hawaii had been working tirelessly to produce a safe and successful event but despite best efforts and hopes, the decision was made taking into consideration the various City and County COVID-19 mandates on public gatherings. Exhibitors and attendees network on the show floor, participate in seminars and education sessions, and plan their projects for the season. Cancellation of this event affects hundreds of exhibitors, builders, and residents.

“BIA-Hawaii is serious about safety, health, and protecting show attendees, exhibitors, visitors, and staff. We’ve seen recent spikes in positive coronavirus cases nationwide, and this along with complications of planning an alternative version of the event, has brought BIA leadership to this difficult decision,” said BIA-Hawaii CEO Jessica Leorna. “Only through cooperative effort can we establish and maintain the safety and health of Hawaii residents.”

Residents and industry professionals are invited to participate in the 2021 BIG Home Building & Remodeling Show slated for January 22-24. BIA-Hawaii staff will be working with show exhibitors, sponsors and committee leadership in the coming weeks, and is offering a special promotion to assist exhibitors with financial hardship that may come with this cancellation: preferred rate access into BIA’s BIG January Show. Visit www.biahawaii.org to sign up for future event notifications or email [email protected].

BIA-Hawaii will continue to keep consumer and building industry needs top of mind, and advocate for affordable housing while keeping construction essential through the highs and lows of the pandemic. BIA-Hawaii encourages industry and residents to do their part in trying to slow the spread of COVID-19. Resources on this and more can be found at the BIA-Hawaii website. Thank you for supporting BIA-Hawaii in our mission to help our local businesses and advocate for affordable housing for Hawaii’s ‘Ohana.
