Castle Resorts & Hotels appoints Alan Mattson as CEO
The Board of Directors of The Castle Group, Inc., parent company of Castle Resorts & Hotels, has promoted Alan Mattson from president and chief operating officer to president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Rick Wall, the organization’s former CEO who passed away in May 2018. Mattson joined Castle Resorts & Hotels in 1999 as senior vice president of sales and marketing and was promoted to president and chief operating officer in 2005.
Mattson has nearly 40 years of executive level travel industry management experience. Prior to joining Castle, he spent ten years in the car rental industry, as director of global marketing at Avis World Headquarters in New York and as vice president of sales and marketing at Dollar Rent A Car. He began his tourism and hospitality career with Hilton Hotels Corporation and held senior level sales and marketing positions in Hawaii and other major U.S. markets.
“I am honored to build upon the legacy created by Rick Wall to lead the company as we continue to evolve, innovate and adapt in order to thrive, grow and respond to our ever-changing marketplace,” says Mattson. “By focusing on the needs of our owners and today’s travelers, we have been able to carve a niche as one of the most innovative hotel and resort management companies in the Pacific, and I look forward to continuing to grow the company with the best team in the business.”
Mattson sits on the board of The Castle Group, Inc. and serves as vice chair and board member of the marketing committee for Pacific Historic Parks (Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor). He is also an active member of the American Marketing Association, Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association, Travel Industry Association of America, American Society of Travel Agents and Pacific Association of Travel Agents. Originally from Long Beach, California, he received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from San Diego State University. He currently resides in Kailua.
