City Park Repaving Continues on North Shore
Following the recent completion of parking lot rehabilitation projects at Pōka‘ī Bay Beach Park, Kea‘au Beach Park, and Waimānalo District Park, additional repaving efforts are scheduled to begin next week for more City park locations in country neighborhoods.
This second round of parking lot and roadway repaving is scheduled to begin on the Shark’s Cove-side of Pūpūkea Beach Park on the North Shore next week, progress to Hale‘iwa Beach Park then finish at Herbert K. Pililā‘au Community Park in Wai‘anae by mid-December. The below timetable details the work scheduled, including the parking lot closures and cost of the particular project.
PARK LOCATION | Pūpūkea Beach Park | Hale‘iwa Beach Park | Herbert K. Pililā‘au Community Park |
SCHEDULED CLOSURE | Nov. 15 – Nov. 20 | Nov. 22 – Dec. 1 | Dec. 2 – Dec. 8 |

Each of the parking lots will be closed at their entrance/exit while work is being conducted. If work is completed earlier than scheduled public access will be restored at that time. However, the work schedule is dependent on weather conditions, with weekends used as makeup days if necessary.
The repaving work includes removal of old asphalt and installation of a new layer (cold planning), restriping stall lines, and new concrete curbing at Pililā‘au.
The $524,770 contract for these repaving projects was awarded to O‘ahu Sealcoating & Paving.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of park users and the surrounding neighborhoods as these parking lots are closed for renovation.
