Kapakahi Stream Maintenance

The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) began maintenance of Kapakahi Stream, between Farrington Highway and the Waipahu Convenience Center, on Thursday, August 5, 2021.  The maintenance work will be performed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., excluding State holidays, and is expected to be completed by Tuesday, August 31, 2021, pending weather conditions and the availability of equipment and manpower.  This project is authorized under the Department of the Army Permit POH-2017-00198 issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

DFM’s Division of Road Maintenance will utilize heavy equipment to remove overgrown vegetation, rocks, silt, and other material from an approximately 1,250 linear feet section of Kapakahi Stream.  The City appreciates the community’s patience while the work is being performed with the use of heavy equipment in the stream area, and large trucks that will be used to haul the vegetation and debris.
