Mānoa-Pālolo and Manaiki Stream: Please Pardon the Inconvenience

The City and County of Honolulu Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) is currently performing maintenance work at Mānoa-Pālolo Stream, between Date Street and Koali Road as well as Manaiki Stream, between Pineapple Place and Ala Mahamoe Street. Authorized under the Department of the Army Permit POH-2017-00198, issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, work began on April 29 and 22, respectively. Both heavy equipment and manual labor will be utilized during the project to remove overgrown vegetation, rocks, silt, and other material from the stream.

The DFM Division of Road Maintenance (DRM), which is coordinating the Mānoa-Pālolo Stream project, asks the community to please pardon any inconvenience caused by increased noise levels from the use of heavy machinery and other related equipment in the stream area. While the work is expected to last 6 to 8 weeks, this time period may be extended due to adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdowns, work stoppages, and other unforeseen circumstances.

The City and County of Honolulu greatly appreciates the community’s patience and understanding while this much needed work is performed. For questions or concerns related to this project, please contact Mr. Thomas Takeuchi of the DRM at 768-3608.
