Positive changes moving travel forward in Hawai’i starting now!
The State of Hawai’i is excited to ease travel restrictions as a direct result of Hawaii’s robust vaccination rate. Beginning June 15, 2021, travelers entering the state who have been fully vaccinated in Hawai‘i may bypass quarantine without a pre-travel test with all restrictions on inter-county travel lifted. The vaccination record document must be uploaded to Safe Travels or printed out prior to departure and hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawai‘i. Beginning June 15, 2 a.m. HST, travelers who received vaccination in Hawaiʻi will be able to upload their vaccination document into the Safe Travels Digital Platform to receive exception from quarantine.
Hawai’i continues to welcome other travelers to the Hawaiian Islands with a pre-travel test. Travelers wishing to use the pre-travel test to bypass quarantine must have a negative result from a test taken from a trusted partner no more than 72 hours BEFORE beginning the final leg of their trip. Anyone without a negative test result PRIOR to departure must quarantine upon arrival.
The negative test result must be uploaded onto Safe Travels or printed out prior to departure and hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawai‘i.
Currently, the Vaccine Exception Program allows inter-county travelers who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State of Hawai‘i to bypass the State’s 10-day traveler quarantine.
The governor announced that when the state reaches a vaccination rate of 60%, the vaccination exception will extend to travelers vaccinated in the United States, traveling domestically. When the state reaches a 70% vaccination rate, all restrictions on travel will be lifted. Specific dates will be announced as milestones are reached.
The CDC Order that went into effect on January 26, 2021 does not impact the Safe Travels program. For international travelers arriving in the State of Hawai‘i from Japan, Canada, Korea and Taiwan, only tests from Trusted Testing Partners will be accepted for purposes of bypassing the State’s 10-day traveler quarantine. Travelers originating from any other international destination and coming directly to Hawai‘i do not have the ability to test for purposes of bypassing the State’s 10-day traveler quarantine.
Delta DL 480 and United UA 1158 flights from LAX have access to additional lab opportunities through CLEAR Health Pass. Eligible flyers will be notified by their airline.
