The new head of the Hawaii Tourism Authority is Mufi Hannemann.

Mufi Hannemann, a longtime business executive and political leader, was chosen by the Hawaii Tourism Authority ( HTA ) Board of Directors to lead the organization’s new board meeting today. The appointment takes effect right away. Mahina Paishon, an investor in education and social effect, will continue to lead the table as vice chair.
According to Chair Hannemann, “HTA has a responsibility to often act in the best interests of Hawaii and its citizens while guiding our state’s largest and most significant industry to maintain its success within the fiercely competitive world tourism economy.”
I’m grateful for the club’s trust in my leadership role and am looking forward to collaborating with Governor Josh Green, our Government, and the management team of HTA to address the issues the industry is facing so that everyone can share in the advantages tourism brings to Hawaii while also caring for our communities.
The powerful tenure of Chair Hannemann as the former chairman of DBEDT, Honolulu governor from 2005 to 2010, and the close ties he has built with influential people in the most important business, tourism, and social sectors in current Hawai’i history are all examples of his accomplishments.
Hannemann has held the positions of president and chief executive officer of the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association for ten years. Additionally, he currently holds a position on the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board ( TTAB).
Due to work obligations related to the announcement of Alaska Airlines ‘ acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines on December 3, former head Blaine Miyasato resigned from his position as board head. Miyasato has worked for Hawaiian Airlines for almost 40 years, rising from the position of aircraft operator to professional. He is the Managing Director of State Government Affairs at the moment.
Miyasato will continue to be a panel member for the HTA. He said,” I had a great time serving as head and witnessing firsthand all the good that the hospitality industry and the HTA can do for our condition and its citizens.” In his capacity as chair, Chair Hannemann may lead the HTA to success in achieving its goals.
According to Daniel Nho’opi, the HTA Interim President and CEO, Mufi Hannemann is a seasoned, well-respected leader who has strong visions and passions for how tourism and hta may improve Hawaii. We are appreciative of Former Chair Miyasato’s command, and we are eager to collaborate with Chair Hannemann to carry on the work of HTA on behalf of the Hawaiian people.
Twelve members make up the Board of Directors of HTA, a group that makes coverage decisions and meets every month to direct the organization’s operate on behalf of Hawaiins.
