Hurricane Douglas Weakening as Watch Issued

As anticipated, Hurricane Douglas has begun to weaken and now is a Category 3 storm.

However, as it nears the Hawaiian islands, a Hurricane Watch has been issued for the islands of the Big Island and Maui on the eastern side of the island chain.

A hurricane watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within 36 to 48 hours.
