Improvement Plans for Mapunapuna Industrial Subdivision

The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Design and Construction, will begin the Kakoi Ditch Duckbill Valve project, removing sediment from Mapunapuna Industrial Subdivision Kakoi Ditch at 2769 Kilihau Street on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021. The maintenance work will be performed Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays, and is expected to be completed by Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.

Mapunapuna Industrial Subdivision Kakoi Ditch Duckbill Valve maintenance work includes removing sediment from the basin, drainpipe, and a portion upstream of the pipe before installing the duckbill check valve at the end of the 42-inch stormwater drainpipe. Equipment will not impede the flow of traffic. “No Parking” signs may be on the upstream side of Kilihau Street for vacuum trucks if required. The City appreciates the community’s patience while the work is being performed using heavy equipment in the stream area and large trucks that will be used to haul the sediment and debris.

Bowers + Kubota Consulting will be managing the construction for the Department of Design and Construction. If you have any questions, please contact Kekoa Lee at (808)-348-7608.
