Maui wants visitors to volunteer for a second COVID-19 arrival test
Maui Mayor Mike Victorino this afternoon was a no show at his own press conference. So it stands that visitors from the US mainland will be allowed to travel to Maui with just a pre-departure COVID-19 test.
Many expected Mayor Victorino to insist on a second test after arrival, as also suggested by the Mayor from Kauai country and supported by Honolulu Mayor Caldwell.
Mayor Harry Kim from the Island of Hawaii opted out of the pre-screen program, and visitors will still be required to observe a 14-day quarantine upon arrival on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Maui Mayor Victorino did not respond to eTurboNews’ question to find out how the Mayor would think a visitor not required to take a second arrival test would “volunteer.” Was there an incentive? It appears Maui County is speechless and leaders in the State of Hawaii are divided when it comes to such important questions.
