Renovation beginning for Waiau District Park

A project to renovate the recreation building in the upper portion of Waiau District Park is scheduled to begin this week.

The project will require the closure of the facility for the duration of the project. This project is scheduled to be finished, and the facility available for public use by spring 2021. At the time of this announcement, City parks are scheduled to remain closed until Sept. 5. However, there is currently no established timeline for the reopening of indoor park facilities to the general public.

The project includes significant renovations to both the interior and exterior of the building, including: improving the drainage, refurbishing the roofing & flooring, new doors, interior & exterior painting, replacing cabinets, countertops and the drinking fountain, improving ADA accessibility, and installing new blackout drapes, ceiling fans, and air conditioning.

The approximately $824,000 contract for construction was awarded to Brian’s Contracting, Inc.

Accommodations are available upon request concerning this announcement for persons with disabilities. Please call (808) 768-3003 or send an email to [email protected] for further information.
